Lunchtime Discussion Webinar - "Remote and Hybrid Hearings – State of Play"

On 13th October 2021, CIArb London Branch organised its Lunchtime Discussion Webinar on the topic of “Remote and Hybrid Hearings – State of Play”.

Members of the Branch - Alistair Schaff QC and Emilie Gonin made short presentations on the subject which were followed by a lively discussion among attendees. The discussion was moderated by Branch Honorary Secretary Karina Albers FCIArb. The event was the fifth of a series of roundtable webinars for members of the London Branch organised by Branch Vice-Chair Daniel Djanogly.

The discussion focused on potential issues of procedural fairness and logistical arrangements when dealing with international parties who may be located in different time zones.

In particular the speakers considered how a tribunal might weigh competing interests in the face of a dispute when deciding whether to direct that the hearing proceeds on an in-person basis or a remote/ hybrid basis?
